CROSS CANADIAN RAGWEED REMAINS TRUE TO VISION
On Oct. 1, country band Cross Canadian Ragweed was doing what it does best: make music.
The evening's gig was a private show in Tulsa that marked the band's 14th anniversary.
Frontman Cody Canada said he figured the band would, in fact, last this long. But he didn't know if the band would achieve the success it has seen.
"We love doing what we do," he said in a telephone interview before the band's Oct. 2 show in Midland. "If you love doing what you do and you can feed your family, keep doing it."...read the complete article.
RAGWEED MENTIONED IN CMT WRAP UP OF CHICAGO COUNTRY MUSIC FESTIVAL
But even with a sober audience, the alt-country guys triumphed. Over on the Americana stage, Cross Canadian Ragweed was showing folks how hard country can rock. The band did a 60-minute set with lots of guitars jams and even a bass guitar solo during "42 Miles." For all his bravado and bad-ass presence, Cody Canada really does have an engaging voice. And even though he still had his trademark aviators, wallet chain and the no-hands cigarette dangling from his lips, the shirt, tie and vest made him look that part of a serious frontman. That said, he still had it in him to take a stab at big shot label guys on "Record Exec," which he dedicated to "the other stage."...read the complete article.

CROSS CANADIAN RAGWEED FAMILY JAM FUN FOR MANY
The members of Cross Canadian Ragweed gave about 10,500 fans a chance to party with their wildly diverse musical family Saturday night at the Zoo Amphitheatre.
Headlining the fifth annual Cross Canadian Ragweed Family Jam, the Oklahoma/Texas band not only dominated the show with its rousing performance, but also provided the musical tie binding a lineup of divergent talents.
“We treat this gig kind of like our personal iPod to kind of show everybody what our taste in music is from one end of the spectrum to another. Case in point: Lee Ann Womack and ... Buckcherry,” Ragweed lead singer and guitarist Cody Canada told the teeming crowd...read the complete article.
BAND BRINGS BACK 'OUTLAW COUNTRY'
If you think country music has gotten away from its roots, you haven't heard Cross Canadian Ragweed. They wouldn't call themselves country, though.
"Country is just so different from what our perception of country is," said frontman-guitarist Cody Canada during a recent phone call with The Daily Nonpareil.
"In my opinion, with the exception of a few people, it all sounds alike," said Canada. Country to him is more along the lines of Merle, Willie and George Strait, not what's played on the radio.
"People are sweating every night in the same old honky tonk that should be recognized," said Canada, adding "Why is Jon Bon Jovi on the country charts?
"Canada and fellow CCR band mates, drummer Randy Ragsdale and bassist Jeremy Plato, are part of rabble-rousing alt-country band out of Oklahoma. The band opens for Gary Allan Sunday at the Stir Concert Cove at Harrah's Council Bluffs Casino & Hotel. The band echoes Allan's honky tonk personality, something Allan's fans will likely enjoy...read the complete article.
NOTHING TO SNEEZE AT - FIERCELY INDEPENDENT CROSS CANADIAN RAGWEED STAYS TRUE TO ITS ROOTS
Cross Canadian Ragweed sounds like something you'd pick up while camping in the woods, but there's no need to reach for the Zyrtec just yet. It is, in fact, a band. The four-member group (frontman Cody Canada, guitarist Grady Cross, bassist Jeremy Plato and drummer Randy Ragsdale) formed in 1994 in Yukon, Okla. The band frequently plays with country music star Dierks Bentley (and lead singer Canada named his son after the country star), and although they haven't won a ton of radio time, they have cultivated a fervent fan base across the U.S. Their strain of music is known as red dirt...read the complete article.
